Meet Teacher Sylvia
Teacher, performer, mom...

Sylvia’s first observed performance was booty-shaking as a two-year old during her parent’s folk-dancing group. Many years later she went on to receive a B.M. in voice from Oberlin Conservatory, and an M.A. in Counseling specializing in Expressive Arts Therapy. She has performed as a cast member in The Phantom of the Opera (Christine Company) and as a member of the San Francisco Opera Chorus, as well as a soloist with the Springfield Symphony (MO) and Erie Philharmonic (PA). She is the Director of Education at Temple Sinai, and also a cantorial soloist at Congregation Gates of Heaven in Schenectady. Her combined love of the arts and of learning about the development of the human mind led her to the Music Together® program, which she's taught since 2008. She's the proud mom of 19-year-old Eli (who was a baby in her belly when she was first trained in Music Together), and loves sharing the world of Music Together with the community!
